'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an extraordinary comeback given the team had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory booked a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after they changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the player from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, the academy prospects trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
