Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.

An important representative said the vandalism made him without words and had to be solved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
